How to protect pets from the heat

August 29, 2025

High temperatures and the care of our pets.

During hot days, our pets need special care to stay healthy and comfortable. High temperatures can seriously affect their well-being, so it is crucial to implement some preventive measures.

  • Constant hydration: Make sure they always have fresh, clean water available 24 hours a day. Place the water bowl in a shady place to prevent the water from heating up and becoming less attractive to them.
  • Cool shelter: It is essential that they have a protected, cool, and shaded space where they can rest and shelter from the heat.
  • Immediate relief: On extremely hot days, wetting their head and back with fresh water can be an effective way to help them regulate their body temperature.
  • Regular brushing: Brushing your pet helps remove excess hair, especially during shedding seasons, which makes it easier for them to stay cool.
  • Moderate physical activities: Avoid exercise during the hottest hours. It is best to take walks or play games early in the morning or at sunset, when the temperature drops.
  • Feeding control: Offer food during cool hours, as high temperatures can affect their appetite and digestion.
  • Special attention: Puppies, geriatric animals, and brachycephalic breeds (short-nosed) are more vulnerable to heat. Watch them closely and take extra care.

Remember that our pets trust us to keep them safe. With these actions, you can ensure they enjoy the summer without risks.
