How does it work?

The Afi Tag II device is attached to the cow’s leg to obtain an accurate measurement of walking/resting/standing activity, every 15 minutes, which is programmable for the user. The data is transmitted wirelessly, the updated activity data, via the AfiActII Reader to the AfiFarm herd management software. The AfiFarm herd management software analyzes the data captured by the sensor and prepares reports (cows to be inseminated, periods of anestrus, and cases of abortion). The data is also available 24/7 through any device with internet access.

Some frequently asked questions

Do I have to buy enough tags for all my cows?
Buying tags for all cows will allow you to use the system in the best possible way. If you prefer not to purchase tags for the entire herd, it is recommended that you at least purchase enough tags to cover all cows from a calving date until they are confirmed pregnant at the second pregnancy check. Since the system can detect abortions in any trimester, you want to keep the tags on the cows until you reconfirm their pregnancy. This equates to around 60% of your total cows.

Should I remove the tags from the cows when they go dry?
You don’t have to. Additional tags will allow you to keep track of dry cows. Benefits, for example, hygiene and comfort indications for dry groups and calving alerts, far outweigh the additional costs. (hygiene and comfort indications for dry group cleaning s, detachment alert, etc.)

What is the range of the antenna?
